Internship with AI-based software
Between February and June 2024, students of Foreign Languages and Cultural Mediation (cl. 11 and 12) in the Department of Languages and Literatures, Communication, Education and Society will be able to engage in an internship in writing and translation with artificial intelligence-based software.
This internship is part of a research project Artificial intelligence-based software in the teaching of foreign language writing and translation, coordinated by Sara Vecchiato.
The introduction of artificial intelligence into the field of writing and translation entails a rethinking of teaching design (Mattioda, Molino, Cinato, Cennamo 2023). While it is necessary to know the new functionalities and roles attributed to editors and translators, it is also essential to observe the possible impact of these technologies in education (Riediger and Galati 2023). The present research is within the framework of Writing Studies, a discipline that studies the processes and knowledge involved in the production of professional writings, and Translation Studies, in particular the branch that investigates computer-assisted translation. The study is presented as a 'learning by doing' experience in which the teacher proposes activities to the students and acts as an observer (Sclavi 2003).
The research focuses on the spontaneous practices of using AI software by comparing them with the teaching practices learned during the courses.
